RELATE

I'm not quite sure how to state this without going into my full life story, but being a professional musician has challenged me in ways that I did not expect when I started this path so many years ago. I was lost in "shoulds" and didn't allow my self to follow my own inner vision for what I wanted in life. However, through twists and turns and in that lost-ness I found reason and a sense of purpose that went well beyond music or any "dreams" I may have had as a budding musician. Life dishes out what it dishes out, and learning how to live with, and learn from challenges outshines any glittery visions I may have had for myself. In other words, yes I had a dream, but it took the back seat to a whole other challenge that didn't seem to match what I thought I'd end up doing. What I'm saying here isn't about music per-se, but music is the biggest part of my life, so here we are, you and I, contemplating life through this magical medium of purposed sound.

As Rumi wrote, "the wound is the place where the light enters you." If you relate to any of this and are feeling similar challenges, perhaps you'd like an understanding ear. Or you'd like to just connect and relate. I am not a licensed therapist and I would not be giving you therapy, nor am I a life coach, but I have a lifetime of wisdom to share with one who may find that they are stuck in an unknown without a beacon. If you're starting out as a professional musician, have been one for a long time, or you're in a completely different line of work, perhaps I can help you uncover your own voice and place in the world if it's not clear. It wasn't clear to me for a very long time.
